Home sweet home.

Yes...

.. i'm home. Home and being silly with my sis again! Feels weird, not to be weird with my sis because that's what we do but weird to be in Sweden. Just as it always feels weird to come home again, hard to describe if you've never been away from home for a longer time.. It always feels like you've never been away at all and in the same way everything feels so different. Especially coming back from Japan who are such a different world to Sweden in so many ways. The two past times i've been coming back from Canada has been difficult as well, but as a country that's more like Sweden.. Anyways, it'll take a couple of days and then i'm back on track again!

Homecoming!

Time to go home... Feels so unreal!

Matane Japan - Hej hej Sverige!

Happy Times!!!

Yesterday was an intense day, lots of things had to be done. The day started bright and early, met up with Tomoko and her friend at 4.30am to go to the fish market. I was amazed by how busy it was at 5am down in Tsukiji. It's like another world!! We had sushi for breakfast at 6am and it was just amazing, the tuna just melted in your mouth, yum yum!!! And i had fugu (blowfish), or as i say; poison fish. It's only a certain amount of sushi chefs who are actually allowed to cut that fish because it's so dangerous. They have to get a certificate which they get after more than five years of training.. Do i have to say that i was scared..?

The catch of the day..

Fugu - Blowfish

In the afternoon i went to meet up with Scott in Harajuku. Probably my favorite area in Tokyo, nice buildings and restaurants! We went for coffee, dumplings, and hot chocolate. Nice last afternoon in Tokyo and so nice to catch up with him again!
At 8 Ashleigh, Tim, Tomoko and i went for dinner at New York Grill in Park Hyatt. What an amazing view and the food was just fantastic!! The night couldn't get better when Tim proposed to Ashleigh, best moment of the night; Congratulations to both of you!!!

Akihabara - Electric Town.

Holy cow, i'm tired! It's tiring to travel by night bus... Definitely managed to sleep a bit more this time though, had two seats for myself so more space. But in situations like that i wish i was twenty centimeter shorter, at least fifteen! Would be so much more comfortable...

I arrived 6.30 this morning and found the ryokan i'm staying at quit easy. A ryokan is kind of a japanese Bed & Breakfast. I got a very nice room, futon on the floor and it's clean, can't really ask for anything else. I was about to pee my pants earlier today when i saw a CAT outside of my room and the worst thing was that it didn't even have a tail so it looked even more scary!!! If it's one animal i really can't stand, it's cats.. Think i just have bad experiences with cats, it freaks me out if they comes up close..!!!

I went out quite early for a walk and met up with Tomoko. We went to electric town and had an ice-cream in a special kind of café, was a bit weird and nothing we've got back home so fun experience! Then we went to Ginza for some shopping. Ended the day with a nice dinner.
Didn't stay out for that long tonight, have to wake up at 4am tomorrow to meet up with Tomoko and her friend in Tsukiji. We're going to the fish market to see the big tuna action, i'm so excited!!!

Beautiful Kyoto!

So last night i went by bus to Nagano, not even an hour from Hakuba, to catch the night bus to Kyoto. Didn't get much sleep, my tailbone was aching and i had to change how i was sitting every fifteen minutes and it was so freaking hot!! The japanese loves when it's so hot that it almost makes you feeling ill and you couldn't adjust the heat yourself.. And, as the icing on the cake, my next-seat-neighbor was half sleeping on my shoulder... I didn't feel like we knew each other enough for that kind of acts but apparently she thought something else. Oh well, time went by pretty fast after all and i arrived to Kyoto at 5.30am, bright and early! Took me about half an hour walk to figure out where the hostel was. Very nice hostel by the way, i haven't stayed in many but you sort of get your "own" room. It's kind of bunk beds but big ones with futons on them and a bit of spaces for your bag and then it's curtains all around.

Cozy eh?!

Anyways, i've had such a good day. Just been cycling around Kyoto all day looking at temples, shrines, geishas, people... It's so beautiful here, it really is and i wish that everyone that haven't been to Japan understood how much this country got. When i first went here i didn't really have any expectations because i did honestly not know a lot about the country but what a great surprise then.. Everything is so different, it's a bit like a fairyland.
The introduction of Japan in my Lonely Planet book says; "Japan a world apart - a wonderful little planet floating off the coast of China. It is kind of cultural Galapagos, a place where a unique civilization was allowed to grow and unfold on its own, unmolested by invading powers." It's true, it's like a another world over here! If you ever get the chance, go! It's going to be love at first sight...

Found a sushi-train restaurant for lunch, a bit different from the one in Omachi. Might be because the other one is a chain kind of a thing and this was more of a restaurant. The sushi-chefs were standing in the middle of the belt and we all sat round them. I really enjoyed it, beside me i had two older ladies, didn't speak a word of english but we were still laughing, isn't it funny how you can manage to communicate with just a couple of words here and there?! Tonight i went to a small, small okonomiyaki restaurant, not far from the hostel. Love the small, local restaurants!

I've been taking heaps, heaps and heaps of pictures today... Everything looks so pretty! Here's a few of them..

Off to bed now... I'm going to have the best sleep tonight! And hopefully i'm ready for another day of sightseeing tomorrow. Oyasumi nazai!
